My name is Esther and I had a bilateral mastectomy about 2 months ago due to a breast cancer. My right breast had dcis and 1.2 cm invasive tumor. My left breast just had dcis. Lymph node was negative and oncotyp came back at 17. I do not have to go through chemo, but was told to take tamoxifen for 5 years. I react very bad to medication and I am very scared to take tamoxifen after reading about it's side effects and risks. I do not want to take it unless I absolutely need to. Can you please give me a second opinion? Thank you!
Hello dear. I have gone through your question. You had bilateral mastetomy and on the basis of oncotype dx you did not go for chemo. However tamoxifen is absolutely necessary for you to cut down the risk of breast cancer relapse. So take it. All patients initially have some problem but allmost all complete the course without any major issue. So please go ahead with it. thanks regards
