Well Valparin is a drug used to prevent seizures, not for the stroke itself. There is a percentage of stroke patients who suffer seizures and Valparin (but there are also other anti-epileptics with fewer side effects) is used in these patients. In your case you mention nothing to suggest a seizure which would warrant an anti-epileptic so gradual interruption should be considered. However it would be advisable to consult the doctor who prescribed it. Seizures can come in many forms, perhaps he has noticed something which you have missed or perhaps she suffered seizures in the hospital you are not aware about. Even if she has had seizures and needs treatment, if Valparin is causing serious side effect you should discuss it with the doctor, perhaps you can switch to another anti-epileptic with fewer side effects.
