Should I Be Concerned As My Daughter Is Having A Bruise On Her Chest With A Small Bump Under It After A Fall?

Hi I have a question for you, my daughter tripped on her night gown when she was running up the stairs a few days ago and I noticed a bruise on her chest that night with a small bump under it. She does not complain about it at all unless it is touched. She can breathe perfectly fine and has all range of motion without it hurting, Is this something I need to be concerned about?

Hi,

I can understand your concern for bruise on your daughter's chest with a small bump under it after a fall.

Let me first reassure you that as it had happened few days back so there is no need of worry in this condition. In most of the injuries the crucial period is initial 12 hours when we get to know most of the serious issues if happened.

In your daughter's case as more 72 has elapsed so there is no point of any seriousness.

Regarding the bruise- it will take complete 14 days to get better and will change the color accordingly. You can give a pain killer such as paracetamol according to her age for reducing if any pain is present.

Do not worry she will be alright soon.

Take care.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM.

I could keep a possibility of a bruise with an underlying soft tissue injury.

If i was your treating doctor i would advice an X-Ray of the affected area to look for any underlying bone injury(rib cage) just in any case.

Otherwise a bruise and soft tissue swelling would heal within 7-10 days. An OTC painkiller and hot fomentation would help in relieving the pain.

An oral Vit C will help in resolving the bruise faster

take care
regards
