Should I Be Worried About Recurring Hiccups After Inguinal Hernia Surgery?
Dear doctor, My father who is 83 year of age. He had inguinal hernia repaired three days ago (open surgery). After the surgery he start having hiccup five to six time a day, even at night. The hiccup takes long time to stop too. Is this the common problem ? Is ther any way to help him?

Hiccups can be due to diaphragmatic irritation cause may be either due to high urea, or respiratory problems, or gastrointestinal problems. Allow him to breathe deeply on and off, cam give fose of antacids, if not rrduced pls check his urea levels and consult the doctor, it is one ofvthe common postoperative problem
