Should I Be Worried About The Severe Headache After Being Hit In The Head?
On Friday i was hit in the left side of the head by a pretty large rock. I had a headache all that night and now it has returned with a vengeance. Ibuprofen isn't helping at all and I seem to be irratable. I did lose conciousness for a brief moment but can remember being hit. Should I call the doc?
Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to head concussion.
It is recommendable to have some rest and avoid possible repeated trauma in the next days.
The headache is supposed to improve spontaneously in the next days.
But if your symptoms do not improve, or even worsen and you have nausea, vomiting, gait disturbances, drowsiness, I would recommend going to the ER for a physical check up and a brain CT scan to exclude a possible delayed intracranial bleeding (subdural hematoma).
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
