Should The Mirena String Be Long Enough To Be Hanging?

I had Mirena inserted yesterday, and I can feel the string hanging, it s long enough that it s hanging out of my vagina a little. My husband and I haven t had sex yet, so he s not complaining about it, but I m a bit worried that it s not far enough in or if the Dr didn t cut the string short enough. Is it suppose to be THAT long? Being that it s like fishing line, I have a feeling that it s going to be uncomfortable for my husband when we have sex, so if it is suppose to be that long, is there a way to tuck it up inside so to speak so that he can t feel it? Thanks.

Hello,

I think the strings of Mirena are about 2 inches long — just long enough to be able to feel them with the tip of your finger.

They feel like light fishing line. However, many women are unable to feel these strings. The partner also can't feel them.

As time pass the stings go up to cervix and you get used to it so you both don't feel them.
