Should The Prednisone Dosages Be Increased Gradually?

21 year old weighing approx. 160 lbs....has poison ivy...with all the wonderful oozing that goes along with it. Prednisone I know is good for this problem. Is 10mg the normal thing to take? Maybe start with 5 the first day and taper completely off by 5th or 7th day?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am sorry to hear about this poison ivy. Because you take this drug just for 10days, it is not mandatory to taper off this medication or micro manage the dosages. Starting with slowly and getting off slowly is the ideal thing to do when this drug is intended to be used for a longtime. With this intended short term use, it can be ignored.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to request fir clarification and more information if need be. Thanks for using our services.
