Slight Ringing Sound In Ears, Muffled Hearing. History Of Hole In Eardrum From Welding Slag From Overhead. Serious?
hello on June 28 I had a hole burnt in my eardrum from welding slag from overhead the first doctor couldn't find anything wrong the second doctor found the problem, but will it heal on its own I cant hear well at all very muffled should I get a hearing aid I also have a slight ringing unable to tell where voices are coming from
Hello, Your Ear drum injury may be the cause for your hearing deficiency. The ringing sound may be due to middle ear infection altering the fluid balance. The sound is because of the nervous imbalance between middle ear connection with the brain. Most eardrum holes resulting from injury heal on their own within weeks of opening, although some may take several months to heal. During the healing process the ear must be protected from water and trauma. Eardrum perforations that do not heal on their own may require surgery. For antibiotic+anti inflammatory+further management consult an ENT surgeon. Best wishes
Hello, Welcome to healthcaremagic. From your query i understood that you have tinnitus (Ringing sound in your ear). It is due to your perforated eardrum by injury you had while welding. Muffled hearing are also due to this perforation. It is type of conductive hearing deafness. Due to perforation in your ear drum, sound waves are unable to travel properly to your middle ear. I think you do not have any active infection in ear canal. Perforated eardrum can be closed by a Procedure called Myringoplasty. please consult an ENT specialist for further management. Hope this helps. Take care.
Hi, Thanks for contacting HCM You have hole in eardrum from welding slag . Best to prevent that ear from water, oil, ear drops , it may heals within 2 or 3 months . if not heals and discharge starts then requires surgical treatment.
Slight ringing sound in ears, muffled hearing due to the hole in your eardrum.
