Small Child, Bigger Rib Bone On One Side, Pain On Left Side Of Stomach. Cause Of Worry?
My son is 5 years old now, and I noticed there is a bigger rib bone felt on the left side compare to the symmetrical right side. My son is still eating, sleeping, playing well with no signs of discomfort or pain .but today he is telling he is having pain on left side of stomach .. Why is this so, and is this something I need to see a doc to address
I am sure that the "bigger rib bone" that you are feeling has nothing to do with the pain in the abdomen that he is having. Such pains can occur due to hunger, muscle stress due to excessive running, constipation, loose motions, external blunt injury (against furniture or while playing cricket or football), indigestion (e.g. overeating) or even psychological reasons (school avoidance, for example). If you are still concerned, you should see a doctor and get his rib cage X-rayed to make sure there is no problem that is being missed.
