Small Child, Having Frequent Nose Bleeds At Night. Applied Neosporin. Symptoms Due To Sinus Infection?
My 4 year old daughter has been having nose bleeds in the night while she has been sleeping and today throughout the day she has had two and this evening she had another .. I have been applying neosporin with qtip so it wouldn t be dry .. Thinking that could be the problem .. But I m just concern that at times it is clotty .. Can I use mupirocin ointment would a sinus infection cause that that kind of nose bleed
Nose picking is the commonest cause of nasal bleeding in this age group.
So first we will have to rule out that as a cause of your child's nose bleed.
So if that cause is rule out a local examination and blood pressure recording is required. Your doctor will do certain investigations including a platelet count etc to rule out other causes of nose bleeding.
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Causes of recurrent nose bleeds are;
-nose picking
-infection
-trauma
-foreign body
-bleeding disorder.
I suggest you to get her examined for proper management.
In the meantime apply ice compresses over nose at time of bleeding.
Pinch nose for 5 minutes.
put liquid paraffin drops.
