Small Child, Passing Watery Mucus, Gas, Soft Stools, No Stomach Pain. Treatment?

My 4.5 year old child has been passing a watery/slightly mucus type substance and a huge amount of wind several times throughout the last few days. He seems to be passing a number of stools each day, not diaherrea but a soft stool. He is not complaining of stomach pain or any discomfort but is worried that he will have an accident when he passes wind.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for your query on HealthCareMagic.

Due to protozoal infection one can pass small frequent stools with mucus. The best course of action would be to get a stool examination done and then start appropriate medication. We would refrain from suggesting any medication without getting the stool examined.

Wishing your child a speedy recovery.

Pediatrician Dr. H. Santosh's  Response
Hi,
this can happen might be as a part of indigestion.
try giving him soft semisolid foods, easily digestible like khichidi, mashed potatoes etc...
you can try adding amylase rich foods which helps in digestion.
Thank you.
