Small Vaginal Opening, Unable To Have Sex After Surgery For Uterine Cancer And Ovarian Cancer Post Menopause. Remedy?

what is vaginal stenosis?
Not sure if I have vaginal stenosis or vagininmus.
I am 60 yo woman I developed uterine cancer and then ovarian cancer post menopause. Now, after surgery in late 2009, I've discovered that I'm unable to have sexual intercourse. My vaginal opening is very small and my boyfriend can't penetrate my vagina. I guess it doesn't matter which one I have, I think I need to work on gradually stretching my vagina with graduated dilators, correct? Thank you!!

Hi,

Vaginal stenosis is fibrosis or band like pattern and its very stiff nothing works on it. The stenosis is cured by making a cut on operation table.

Now vaginismus is a psychological issue when any one is try to penetrate a vagina it squeezes and gets narrower rather the dilation to allow entry. The vaginismus is mostly due to fear/anxiety. Here the stretching with gradually larger dilator will work like a charm.

Thanks, hope it helps.
