Small White Bump On Left Tosnil. No Pain, No Trouble In Swallowing. Getting Treated For Tonsilitis. Suggestions?
I have a small white bump on my left tonsil. No trouble swallowing its not a tonsil stone either. It looks more like pictures of a tonsil cyst. What are the chances of this being malignant and how fast should it grow? I noticed it on my tonsil at the beginning of this week and seen a GP he is treating it for tonsolitus but there isn't any pain. He gave me a referral to an ENT for tomorrow just wanted to know what to expect
White patches on tonsils can be caused by many conditions. It could be caused due to various infections from viruses, fungal and bacteria, aphthous ulcers, blood disorders many other conditions including pus, tonsilolith etc. Usually isolated appearance of a small white bump on tonsil should not be alarming and are usually harmless; very unlikely to be a malignancy - usually presents with pain, difficulty in swallowing, hard mass and neck nodes. Let the doctor examine you, he may take few swabs if required too.
