Soft, Unformed Stool, Chronic Ache In Right Lower Quadrant And Under Ribcage. Have Umbilical Hernia. Colonoscopy Showed Diverticulosis. On Medication. Advice

I am a 60 yo male who has been noticing a soft, unformed stool for the past 10 months, not watery, no bleed, but not formed. Additionally, over the same time frame, I've had some chronic, aching in the right lower quadrant, as well as some just under the bottom of the ribcage on the same side. Additionally, I have been told that I have an umbilical hernia, which was present preceding these sxs and signs. My PCP has recommended a colonoscopy, which was performed today. The result demonstrated diverticulosis, but no polyps. My sxs are worse when I have not had a bowel movement for a day. While they are not incapacitating, they are worrisome to me b/c I haven't received any explanation as to the change in stool, nor the chronic right-sided pain. My health hx is otherwise significant for PCa, which was tx'd by robotic prostatectomy, as well as HTN, intermittent gout, apnea, hypothyroidism; CKD III; meds includes Losartan, levothyroxine, rarely indomethicin; I am about 15 lbs overweight, but exercise regularly.
Thoughts?? What should I do next ? Additional testing? Imaging? Differential considerations?
THANKS ! !

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
The consistency of stool is semi solid ( unformed ).
I want to mention one thing that usually due to eating habit and structure of intestinal flora different person have different type of stool consistency as , hard, solid , semi solid, loose , watery .
In last two if 3-4 motions than we call it diarrhea.
In you case this ( unformed i.e. semi solid ) may be normal due to overeating and fiber food & salad ( in excess).
Now about diverticulosis, all symptoms which mentioned in your query don't relates to diverticulosis.
Usually main site of diverticulosis is left side( left iliac fossa).
In diverticulsis there are,
periodic pain & inflammation,
perforation,
intestinal obstruction,
hemorrhage,
fistula formation.
Clinical features are not related to diverticulosis.
In my opinion change dietary habit and you will be alright.
Semi solid stool may be due to above mentioned drugs.
If further any question I will help.
Good luck.
Dr. HET
