Sore Throat, Cough, Cold Symptoms, Rash On Body. Is This Viral Infection?
My 9 year old daughter complained Monday of a sore throat and then it turned into a barking cough. I assumed it was a virus because strep typically doesn't seem to have cold symptoms with it. The cough was getting better yesterday so I let her go back to school. Last night she discovered a faint raised rash over her trunk and this morning it has spread to her arms. Does this seem like a viral infection or would it be a symptom of strep?
Hello.Viral infection and sore-swelling throat are related. Sore-swelling throat is caused by viral infection very often. (sore throat caused by bacterial infection is less frequent). Rash occurs in many bacterial or viral infections. You must go your pediatrician to examine your daugther and stablish diagnose and treatment. By now your daughter can take ibuprofeno for sore throat and a antihistamine by mouth if she has itchy skin(loratadina for example) I wish you good health. Hi welcome to Health care magic forum. Thanks for calling H.C.M.Forum. Your daughter of 9 years had sore throat, cough, faint rash, to trunk and hands whether it is viral or strep. It appears to be the viral infection, probably chickenpox. Still i advise you to consult a physician for diagnosis and treatment . You may have to get the culture and sensitivity of the throat swab besides other routine tests for confirmation. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Best regards.
