Sore Throat Followed Be White Spot In Left Tonsil. Tonsil Was Removed In Childhood. Suggestions?

I started with a sore "spot" on the right side of my throat 2 weeks ago. It spread across my throat and then settled back into feeling like a sore spot in one place at the back of my throat where I cant see where it started on the right.. Last night I gargled with salt water but it is just as bad this morning and there is a white spot on where my left tonsil would have been (I had my tonsils out when I was 5 years old over fifty years ago.

Hello and welcome to HCM,

Feeling of soreness in the throat suggests inflammation or infection of the pharyngeal mucosa.
A white spot at the site from where the tonsil was replaced associated with sore throat suggests collection of pus in the tonsillar fossa or pharynx.
Continue salt water gargles.

However, you need to visit your ENT specialist for a clinical examination of the throat.
In case pus is present, it has to be drained and send for microscopic examination and culture studies.
Culture of the pus will help the doctor in prescription of appropriate antibiotics.
As I have mentioned that you can continue salt water gargles. You can take pain killers if pain is also present.

Thanks and take care
