Spinning In Head, Wanted To Throw Up. What Happened ?

woke up this morning to get ready for work, head spinning , could not find my balance stopped and waited for it to subside. went back to lie down for a few minutes but spinning still slight, now felt like i was going to throw up twice , went back to lay down. woke up 2 hours later feeling better but on guard for additional issues. Never had issues before just last Friday had a headache that would not end but thought it was from all the bad news received from friends and family......do not usually have headaches , stay away from drugs unless absolutely necessary. Please advise

Neurologist 's  Response
Dear patient

The symptoms you describe are suggestive of affection of centers of balance control. These are generally divided into two types. Central and peripheral. Peripheral means those which arise due to involvement of ear, or nerve starting from ear to brain. It is not of much worry and generally subsides within a week or so.

However same set of symptoms could be due to central that is problem in the brain stem. These can be sinister and require urgent evaluation and treatment. The differentiation between is sometimes difficult and it is advisable to get MRI brain to rule out a central cause. Visit to a neurologist will help to solve the issue.
