Started Intake Of Novelon Instead Of Femilon. When Can I Expect My Next Period?

Dear Doctor, further to my previous query, I m travelling and was unable to visit a gynaec, it s my 6th day today, and I started on novelon because femilon was unavailable and the chemist advised that the composition is the same. I wanted to confirm with you, if this pill would be effective by the 29th of this month when my husband returns? Also, the 21 day cycle would end by 25 th july, and I do not want my next period before the 31 st of July. Kindly advice. Thanks . Regards.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

Both novelon and femilon contains same combination of drugs. But dont vary from company to company as these are hormones. your 21st day comes at 25th and if you want to postpone to 31st then you can consult your gynaecologist to postpose. Progesterone preparations can be given which delays bleeding and keeps it in abeyance as long as given. Withdrawal bleeding usually occurs within 3-7 days after you stop taking the medication. Subsiquent cyclic treatment at lower dose regularises your period. Consult your doctor for management.
