Stitches In Middle Finger, Swelling, Redness And Pain. Applied Polysporin. Why Is Blood Draining From Wound?

I had 6 stitches to my middle finger and after 24 hours, I removed the original gauze (sp) and apply polysporin over the stitches, and put on fresh gauze. after 34 hours onf the stitches, I re-apply polysporin and left it open. It is red and very swollen and painful despite the fact that I have been taking painkillers every 6 hours. I just noticed that there is some blood draining from the wound. Is this the normal, and I have not wet it at all. Thanks.

Hi,
It seems that there is some infection took place giving rise to redness, swelling.
You may require antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicine for 3-5 days.
Consult your doctor and get examined.
Ok and take care.
