Stomach Inflation With Feeling Of Movement, Pregnancy Ruled Out, Normal Ultrasound, Scan For Kidney, Tests. Cause?
My wife is 40, had 3 children. Several months ago her stomach start growing.She has her period on time every month and nothing strange during the period. She thought she was pregnet, we went to doctor, he checked her, pregnacy test negative, he couldn,t find anything by exam either. She had ultrasound , CT, even scaning for kidney done and all test were negative. No cancer , no cyst , no tumor , but no baby either. Her stomach is still growing, she even feels some movments in her stomach and she gaind about 10 lbs in two months. Her blood test was negative also. She still thinks she is pregnet, but we just don t know how is all that possible after all those test she has done. Thanks

Hi,
Noted your history about your wife having feeling of pregnancy but all the tests being negative, still the abdomen is growing, weight gain and the feeling continues in spite of negative pregnancy test, CT abdomen and so on.
This condition is call Pseudocyesiss in which the patient develops symptoms and signs of pregnancy which is not present.
Another probable reason can be aerophagia or intestinal obstruction, but the CT scan would have shown it.
I would advise her the following:
Reassurance by you and th Gynecologist.
Psychiatrist's opinion, counselling and management.
To rule out other causes like thyroid and hormonal problems.
