Suffering From Anxiety And Depression. Stopped Taking Medication. Nausea, Headache After Stopping. Suggestions?

My wife is suffering from anxiety and depression and for treatment the Psychiatrist has advised to take Zapiz 0.25 mg dosage 0,5 morning , 0.5 afternoon and 1.0 in the night
and
Mirnite 7.5 mg in the night .

She has been taking this for a week to 10 days , after which she has stopped the medicines . as hse does not want to take them and be addicted to them . she is willing to work the situation with out having the medication .

after stopping the medicine she is feeling nauseated and very heavy head , continuous back pain. we feel this is withdrawal symptoms .

How do we over come this situation .

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello
Welcome to HCM

She was on Clonazepam 0.5 mg per day and Mirtazepine 7.5 mg per day and left medicines after taking for about 7 days.
First of all I would like to tell you that anxiety and depression may respond to non-medicinal treatment but that treatment is not very easy and it takes long time to see improvement. Also although the medicines may have some sedation but they are not addicting if used as per proper prescription advise.
Also a patient should never stop taking medicines without the proper consent of doctor.

A lot of individuals have misconception about taking medicines from psychiatrist and this results in increased morbidity with psychiatric disorders. She is having symptoms like nausea, headache, backaches, and most likely they are part of somatic symptoms of depression. Please take her to a Psychiatrist again and start her on medicines for her well being.

Thanks
