Suffering With Herpes. How Can I Protect My Partner?
hi my ex-husband passed on to me genital herpes . he has herpes simplex type 2 and has sores on the tip of his penis . he went on valtrex supressant medication . I have had 3 outbreaks on my buttock in the past 15 years and no outbreak for 4 years. I now have a new partner but we have not had sex and I have told him about my herpes. How can I protect my new partner from passing the virus on to him? Sorry no cash available so cannot proceed
Hi, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic, Herpes simplex type 2 is sexually transmitted disease and you are sero positive with no clinical outbreak at present. Prevention of herpes basically requires barrier methods of contraception like condom. It can be combined with antiviral suppressive therapy in consultation with Physician. Commonly valacyclovir is used. One more option is anti viral tenofovir, when used topically in a microbicidal vaginal gel, may prevent transmission. Please take proper prescription from Physician /Dermatologist. Hope this information helps. Take care. Good Luck. Dr. Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
