Suggest A Birth Control Pill Instead Of Ortho Cyclen
I am 42 and the doctor changed my birth control pill. It was changed twice because of problems, first to Oovral and then to the "mini pill". I am having problems on the "mini pill". I have been on ortho cyclen for at least 20 years and had no problems, had one break through bleed because I forgot a pill but then it stopped. Can I go back to my old pill method or do I have to keep trying to find a new pill? If I need a new pill, what would be best?
If you wish to change to a new pill, pills containing lower estradiol (20 micrograms) like Yaz, Mircette, Loestrin, etc are safer.
Pills containing natural estrogen-like estradiol valarate instead of ethynyl estradiol (eg, Natazia, Lo Loestrin Fe) are beneficial too as these are associated with relatively less risk of clot formation.
You may choose from any of the above two options.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

Suggest A Birth Control Pill Instead Of Ortho Cyclen
Hi, You can go back on Ortho-Cyclen. Occasional breakthrough bleeding is normal.
