Hi, I ve been suffering from constant migraine with persistent visual aura. All tests came back normal except for a neuroopthalmologist s test, the OCT, which showed bilateral macula thinning. Could that be the cause of my classic migraine visual aura symptoms? I ve tried every medication there is. What should I do?
But it is not very normal. I would like to explain that the visual aura is caused by the brain region responsible for the vision and not by the eyes.
So I would recommend you to consult with the neurologist and have a brain CT scan to exclude possible causes of raised intracranial pressure like a tumor etc.
If the CT results normal I would recommend you to start therapy with topiramate or amytriptiline to decrease the frequency and severity of migraine attacks.
Hope to have been helpful!
Greetings! Dr. Aida

Suggest A Remedy For Migraine With Visual Aura
Hello! Thank you for your question on HCM! I appreciate your concern! I think that constant migraine can cause brain swelling and similar ocular symptoms.
