Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I take lamotrigine for bipolar and the instructions on the bottle say "take 1 talent day times 1 week, then take 2 day times 1 week, then increase to 100 mg daily" and, I'm on the second week so do I take 1 in the morning and 1 at night or both at night? Please help. Thank you.
Lamotrigine is given in dose range of 25 to 400 mg. Whenever valproate is used simultaneously, dose is reduced. Depending upon symptoms it is given up to 200-300 mg per day in divided doses in bipolar by increasing 25 mg every second day with watching side effects specifically skin rashes. If you are on second week, 100 mg two times is a good dose. But continue follow up with your psychiatrist.
Hope I have answered your query. Regards, Dr.Chintan Solanki.
