Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic.
Acne is frequently complicated by post-inflammatory
hyperpigmentation and scars, specially if acne is inflammatory.
Therefore treatment of acne should be apt to the severity of acne to prevent scaring.
Soaps and face washes may not be completely effective in acne control. In fact soaps etc are too drying for acne prone skin and this in turn causes rebound oiliness and may worsen acne.
If I was the treating I would suggest you to use a topical
benzoyl peroxide gel for active acne during day time.
At night you may use a topical retinoid e.g adapalene gel over the whole affected area.
Adapalene gel is comedolytic and would prevent new acne formation apart from treating existing acne.
Topical retinoids are also helpful in fading away the dark spots left over by acne.
Specifically for dark spots you may use a pigment lightening cream containing ingredients like
hydroquinone,
kojic acid,
glycolic acid etc.
For
acne scars, creams won't be sufficient and they would improve with some procedure like either chemical peeling sessions Or
dermabrasion Or microneedling Or fractional Co 2 Laser etc depending on the severity of your problem.
I suggest you to visit a specialist in your region for more details about these procedures and the best one for you.
Regards
