Been having palpitations for past 30 years visited my go about a year ago and had an e c g and was referred to a cardiologist at local hospital because of fast heart rate but was told e c g itself was fine. Cardiologist then gave me another e c g and did something called a heart scan in darkened room. The only explanation he gave after having this done was I needed to lose wait and that the palpitations were not life threatening but sometimes they scare me so much I am female age 52 overweight and have just started menopause
Hi welcome to HCM Palpitations can be related to arythmias of heart,stress and anxiety.If your are overweight and your cholesterol levels are high you should start using cholesterol lowering drugs like statins.If your ECG is showing sinus tachycardia you should start using drugs like betaloc.Avoid stress and anxiety.Exercise regularly for 20-30min.Drink 3-4 litres of water.Avoid achohol,smoking.Monitor your blood pressure regularly.Repet ECG,2D ECHO,lipid prpfile,chest x ray for every 6months as a part of screening of your heart.Consult your cardiologist for expert management.
