Suggest Diet For Viral Hepatitis Patient

My daughter who is 16 has been diagnosed with viral hepatitis. She has tested negative for B and C strains. The results for A and E are awaited. She has been down for a week now, and has completely lost her appetite. What diet should I follow?

Hi, I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

Your child probably has acute viral hepatitis (Hepatitis A or E). In this case, there is no specific dietary restriction. Just increase fluids intake and take soft diet. Increased fluid intake helps in elimination of excessive bilirubin through kidneys so it helps in managing acute viral hepatitis.

I hope my answer will help you.
Regards,
Dr. Maria Daud
