Suggest Me Treatment For Surgically Repaired Umbilical Hernia As It Hurts And Filled With Fluid?
Hi, when I was 2 years old I had an umbilical hernia and it was surgically repaired. When I was younger it would drain fluid, itch and be very painful. I am now 18 and it is starting to do it again. It has not occurred for at least four years and it worse than it was when I was younger. I hurts and itches a lot and there is a bunch of fluid. Why does is it itchy, painful and draining? Also, why has it started again after not happening for years?
Your symptoms are suggestive for umbilical hernia that might be infected. Sometimes, the ligaments and muscles there cannot hold the reparation structure, and you need to redo it again.
I strongly advise to: - keep a normal weight (being overweight and having a large belly can aggravate your symptoms and make hernia re-occur - do not lift heavy weights - consult with your doctor first to clinically evaluate it first, then, decide if you need a reparation.
All the best! Dr.Albana
