Suggest Medication For Blood Sugar Fasting (6-7) And Random(9.5-11.5)
Dear sir, My sister is 26 years old. six months before we came to know that she is suffering from diabetic diseases checking her blood sugar. Her fasting was around 13 and random was around 18 then. we consult with a doctor and taking medicine as per his suggestion. She is taking- Amaryl 3.0 (2 tablet per day) and Metfo (2 tablet per day) but blood sugar still moving fasting 6 to 7 and random is 9.5 to 11.5. Please give us suggestion what should we do now considering her age. Thanking you. Taimur Reza Dhaka, Bangladesh. Cell: 01713-229921
Your sister 25 years old is recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes six months before and she is on Amaryl and Metformin currently. Fasting blood sugar of 6-7 is not on higher side and I would advice against addition of any further medication.
Rather than random value, I would suggest you to check Post Prandial Blood Glucose (PPBG) & HbA1C (3 months average blood sugar levels) which would give more idea about her complete blood sugar profile.
I would also recommend and advice her for Diet control and Exercise, which also plays a huge role in blood sugar control in Diabetic patients.
Hope this helps
