Acne is recurring skin problem and can linger on for months or years. Post-acne scars and marks are common complications of moderately severe to severe grade of acne. It is therefore important to use a topical treatment which would not only prevent new acne formation but also resolve existing ones. Topical retinoids e.g adapalene is one such topical. It is comedolytic as well as antiinflammatory and therefore treats as well prevents new acne. Adapalene also helps lighten the marks resulting from acne. In addition I would also suggest that you use a topical antiacne antibacterial e.g clindamycin/ benzoyl peroxide gel for active acne during day time. Oral antibiotics like doxycycline, minocycline may also be required if your acne is inflammatory. Kindly visit a dermatologist in your vicinity for an assessment of your skin condition and for the needful.
