Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
been couging severals days now I have the flu coughing up yellowish tannish secretions sometimes light brownish in appaeance taking ventolin nebs treatements took avelox first time last night 400 mg hD AN OLD PRESCRIPTION TH that I filled about a year ago buy never had to use am I doing the right thing I can hear crackles in my lungs audibility
From what you refer I can say that you suffer from a flu complication, more exactly, from a bronchopneumonia. Bronchopneumonia is a lung infection.
I recommend you: 1. Bed rest. 2. Eat warm liquid food. 3. Drink a lot of hot tea. 4. The room where you are resting should be warm and and the air should be humid.
The treatment that you are using in principle is correct. But you should estimate the condition of the disease. To do this you need: 1. Complete blood count. 2. Sputum culture. 3. Pulmonary X-ray. 4. Spirometry(lung function test). 5. Urine test.
Contact your pulmonologist. Basing on the results of the tests your doctor will determine if you need another treatment or no.
I hope this information is helpful.
I wish you a fast and healthy recovery. Dr. Behar.
