Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my husband has had a chronic gas like pain. It starts in the upper stomach and travels to lower left back. He did work up with doctor even colonoscopy and he also took a stool sample. All was perfect. But the same sympton and pain are there. Could you guide us on what this may be? The pain is starting to be severe it's starting to affect his work, he's getting irritable and cranky.
To me its looks more of pancreatitis and less of gastritis.... as the pain radiating to back is more common in pancreatitis... but i still cant understand why the colonoscopy was done...to look for gastritis upper gi endoscopy is done...
Anyways...for gastritis he need to take a ppi for a few weeks... for pancreatitis... first we need to confirm it...for that a few blood tests will be needed...namely...serum amylase and lipase levels...so get them dont and then we will see about it...
