My 86 old mother is now in the hospital because of her wild hallucinations, she lost her right eye to a cancer tumor 10 years ago and now is complaining about her vision in her other eye. She has been checked for all other health issues including infections which we were told can be the cause for hallucinations in a seniors. Three months ago she had bad hallucinations and was given IV antibiotics for an infection and seemed to cure the hallucinations until now. What is your medical opinion on this ?
Hello It is very difficult to say anything just from this query ,since age of patient is 86 years . Hallucination may be due to advance age in itself so consult a psychiatrist and get his opinion . Mere prescription of hallucination drugs is not a good advice for this patient due to advance age . So consult a psychiatrist and get his opinion. Good luck for your mother.
