Suggest Medicine To Reduce Blood Sugar Level

I am a heart patient and have undergone angioplasty (two stents implanted). I am also a diabetic. While I was still in hospital after the angioplasty, I was put on insulin for 3-4 days but I showed tendency to develop hypo-g whereafter I was again put on medication. I am taking metformin hydrochloride 500 mg+ glimeperide 2mg twice daily but the fasting sugar is still around 200 and PP around 300. My cardiologist says I cannot be put on insulin and that the sugar level has to be brought down gradually through medication only. I am a bit worried since the sugar level has continued to be high despoite the medication. what should I do?

Hello thanx for using hcm,
As your already on oral medicines you keep a watch on the diet also.
Consume small fibre rich meals rather than 3 big meals.
Reduce consumption of refined cereals like rice, white breads consume more of whole grains sticking to small portion of cereal.
Avoid juices, sweetened drinks, carbonated drinks ,starches like potatoes, yams.

If still sugars are not controlled than you can have a diabetologist opinion he can help you out with right insulin. Its is v important to have snacks ( like a fruit, crackers, vegetable salad, boiled beans , sandwich, milk, buttermilk )in between meal for people who are on insulin ,and more over.... sir it will take little time to get adapted to insulin.
