I used to have constipation -almost my whole young life it seemed - until recently. Now that I am post menopausal, a have a lot of runny stools, sometimes painful and feels like it is burning. When it gets really bad and I go several times, I feel like I have passed a lot of acid - rectum and anus very uncomfortable. Acid blockers like Prilosec do help a lot but it never goes away completely. I have cut out gluten, and seem a little but better but not as much as I had hoped. I also suffer from Hashimoto s disease which I think was likely responsible for the constipation (just wasn t found until I was in my late 40 s.) I also have female hormonal imbalances (too much testosterone and no progesterone.) Also, slightly high ALT & AST. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Drinking pots of water is one of the best things you can do to keep constipation at bay. Water helps to cleanse the system and also normalize the bowel movements. Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water on a daily basis. This helps in dissolving the food nutrients as well as ensures proper digestion of food.Drink at least half a cup of cabbage juice at least two times a day to get rid of constipation.Eating dates with milk are also beneficial in curing constipation. However, while drinking this juice see to it that you take it empty stomach. Hence, morning time is the preferred time to drink orange juice. Do this for a period of 8-10 days and see the difference it will make.2-4 tsp of castor oil is also one of the proven home remedies that helps cure constipation.
