Hello,
In case of heavy bleeding, it may need surgery otherwise nothing to worry. Do not worry nothing will happen. Here are the few indications for surgery:
1. Free-air perforation with fecal
peritonitis.
2. Suppurative peritonitis secondary to a ruptured abscess
3. Uncontrolled sepsis
4. Abdominal or
pelvic abscess (unless CT-guided aspiration is possible)
5. Fistula formation
6. Inability to rule out carcinoma
7. Intestinal obstruction
8. Failing medical therapy
9. Immunocompromised status
10. Extremes of age.
70 to 80% may recover with diet modifications and medical therapy. So, avoid spicy food and alcohol, avoid
smoking. At the time of acute episode, use antibiotics with only
liquid diet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
