Suggest Remedy For Pain And Numbness In Feet

My neurosurgeon says that I have PN and not caused by any back problems--suggest that read his book "Secrets to non-dieting" and saying I should take Vit. D and blood work for Serum Insulin--My concern what to do with about the pains in both feet--numbness, sharp-stabbing pain, and bottom of feet feels like no padding--all the above can pain can be at the same time--Dr. said to take tylenol and get off of gabapentin that my neurologist prescribed---will agree gabapentin is not helping---what advice can you offer. Thanks
