Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm female, 28y/o. I was diagnosed with Reactive arthritis in August and I'm showing no signs of getting better. I've had one infection after another, before and after diagnosis, and was also diagnosed with an underactive thyroid in July. I am due surgery on my spine, my file is marked urgent, only when I had my pre-op appointment I was told I had an irregular heartbeat. My surgery has been postponed until I have blood tests in six weeks for my thyroid, but couldn't my ReA be cause for an irregular heartbeat, or is there a link with all my problems? :(
Hello,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you are probably suffering from reactive arthritis. It occur as a body reaction to the underline infection. There is no relation between reactive arthritis and irregular heartbeat .There can be some relation between hypothyroidism and reactive arthritis as in both immune system is deranged. I treat my reactive arthritis patients by local triamcilone injection and analgesic such as diclofenac. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care.
