After several weeks of severe back pain,I collapsed when my left leg gave out and I couldn't move. I
was taken to hospital and told that my spine is "a mess" and that my tailbone is crumbling. That was
early in April and I remained in the hispital for some time (this was in the UK) and the only therapy I
got were several exercises, which I still perform, and a some unsupervised "walking" with a Zimmer
frame. I returned to the US at the end of June and got a rollator and do quite well with it and can walk
around my apartment, slowly and with some diificulty, without aids. I still have considerable pain around
the tailbone area and which goes down into my thighs. I dread g e tting up in the morning becaause the
pain is so bad. I take Ibuprofin and it eases off after a while but can recur again at any time. Sitting and
lying in bed can be painful, even eating can cause pain. In the letter the orthopedic surgeon gave me
for my doctor here, she stated that I have sciatica. Will this pain last forever?.
