I've been prescribed Lactolose & domperdome 5 days ago for severe constipation I have had for yrs but in last yr I have just quit going.....noting works..... Dr. Tried this..... How long does it take??? I think I'm going tom have to result to some strong stimulate laxatives.... I can take the "smooth move" tea & go but Dr said that was a stimulate & I know all stimulate's usually quit working on me after a while.. I am 60. Had constipation issues 30 yrs... 1 dr suggested a colon resection....but I am scare of that.... Want to try everything to "get it going" before that.... help! Any suggestions? Miralax makes me worse & terrible bloat. Thanks!
you can use enema to relieve constipation which is caused as a side effect of drugs.Principle of enema is to irritate the rectal mucosa which causes defecation. However initially enema should be used after which you should try to shift on laxatives like polyethylene glycol or lactulose. However if they are not effective enema can be used as and when required. You can ask you gastroenterologist to prescribe you Polyethelene Glycol.Polyethylene glycol-electrolyte solution is used to empty the colon. PEG-ES is in a class of medications called osmotic laxatives. It works by causing watery diarrhea so that -the stool can be emptied from the colon. The medication also contains electrolytes to prevent dehydration and other serious side effects that may be caused by fluid loss as the colon is emptied.Polyethylene glycol-electrolyte solution (PEG-ES) comes as a powder to mix with water and take by mouth. You have to drink one 8 ounce of PEG-ES every 10 or 15 minutes, and to continue drinking until your liquid bowel movements are clear. It will clear your bowel.,you can take Magnesium citrate also.It is also a osmotic diuretic with same effect as Polyethylene glycol. Thanks
