Suggest Speed Up Recovery Method For Bed Sores After Hip Replacement
sir my father is diabetic and his diabetes is under control with metformin500mg od
2 months back he had successful hip jt replacement but post surgery he developed bed sores i m using normale saline for rinsing of wound and dressings with metrogyl gel and mupirocin ointment but recovery is too slow .please advice wat to do to speed up recovery . he is taking cefixime + dicloxacillin combination orally for the same.

I'd recommend you to go for a detailed investigation including Hb1C for your father. In cases of operations IV fluids given to a patient may lead to sugar imbalance in them. The ointments you are using for bed sores are fine . However, you may want to see your doctor for change in antibiotics if he's not responding to them. Also, apart from ointments, proper care of bed sores is important, so follow all the instructions you might have been told in order to look after the bed sores.
Apart from this routine exercises and what ever exercise advised by the physiotherapist and strict diet control should also help. Diet control does not mean giving up eating. It means having a healthy diet with lots of fibre, high protein and low on carbs. For a detailed customised diet plan you may even consult a dietician. After doing all this, show reports of the investigation to your doctor and he/she would best be able to tell you what to do next.
