Hello,
I need more information for a complete answer. I'll give you my best advice with what you've provided. For a healthy man in your age who doesn't smoke (you haven't mentioned if you're a smoker) and has a systolic blood pressure of 125mmHg (max) your estimated risk for cardiovascular events would be low enough to avoid medication for your cholesterol. Diet and mild exercise (walking) should be enough for now. If you smoke or have higher blood pressure or both then your risk would be too high and you'll need a statin. I usually start patients like you with atorvastatin 20mg once every night.
And a few words about the diet. It would be good for you to avoid fatty foods (particularly those containing saturated fat), eat vegetables and fruits every day, red meat only once every 7-10 days, fish 1-2 times/week and avoid sugar. Avoid overeating. A good measure of a successful diet is your body weight.
Best Regards!
