Suggest Treatment For Irritable Bowel Syndrome

DOCTOR,
MY 14 YR OLD SON HAD SEVERE STOMACH ACHE ONLY AT NIGHT. URINE, BLOOD, CT SCAN, ENDOSCOPY, ECG ALL NORMAL. DOCTOR PRESCRIBED TRYPTOMER 10 mg AND SAID HE IS SUFFERING FRM IRRITOBLE BOWEL SYNDROME. HIS STOOL IS HARD & HE GOES TO TOILET IN ALTERNATE DAYS FROM BIRTH. HOW LONG HE SHOULD CONTINUE THIS MEDICINE? WILL IT RECUR IN FUTURE?

He will take the medication for the time that he has symptoms. IBS can be only maintained under control through medications bad diet, but it is very difficult to recur.
