Just off antibiotics for poss. diverticulitis . stomach still a little upset, but am on brat diet. fecal matter shows strings no longer then 1/4 inch about the size of the tip of a ball point pen. brown or deep burgandy color. Dried blood or worms?

Hello,

It is possible of the passing of blobs of mucous with blood (altered color) with diverticulitis. Don't worry, eat fruits and vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. Avoid spicy food and alcohol. Avoid caffeinated drinks. Use antispasmodics and antibiotics for one week in case of flare up. If symptoms not improved, please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
