Hi Doctor, I am a 20 year old female and 6 months into my first pregnancy with twins. Before becoming pregnant I had beautiful clear skin but since becoming pregnant developed severe acne. I decided I didn't want to use harsh face washes due to all the chemicals so I decided to let my hormones just work themselves out. Thankfully the acne has improved over time but recently I've noticed red flaky skin on my eye lids and directly below my eye. Is this something hormonal like my acne or could this be some other issue and what treatments are safe during pregnancy?
Hello, yes, the acne that appeared in this period is hormonal and such lesions usually resolve completely once the hormonal influence wanes (that is, post delivery)..Still if u have some remaining lesions and want a treatment for the same, i will adv you to wash your face with Minoz-S face wash and apply benzoyl peroxide 2.5% gel on the lesions once daily, these topical meds are safe in pregnancy. As far as the eyelid lesion is concerned, it appears as milder eyelid eczema, this isnot hormonal, apply desonide cream locally twice daily on the lesions, taking care that it doesnot enter eyes and take tab Levocetrizine 5 mg at bedtime for atleast 7 days. Thanks Take care
