Sir i have acne scars on my face and so i underwent
Dermaroller...i am also told to take tretiva 20 mg daily...however i have come to know that you should not undergo any skin treatment when you are on tretiva dosage....i am a bit confused whether to continue my tretiva or not...plzz help....
Hello Thank you for posting on HCM. Tretiva contains isotertinoin, and this drug has little potential for hypertrophic scars in predisposed individuals and thus should be used with caution in patients with history of hypertrophic scars or keloids. As such, there is no clear cut consensus whether to avoid Isotretinoin during procedures or not. If you dont have any hypertrophic scars/keloids then i think you can safely continue isotretinoin. Acne scars are pretty challenging to treat and treatment comes with variable results. I would suggest you to go for laser therapy (Fractional Co2 laser, Non-ablative RF etc) as it has the best results of all other treatment modalities. Moreover, if additionally treated with dermaroller or 100%TCA peel (CROSS technique), pretty appreciable results can be achieved. Hope this will take care of your query. Wish you best of health. Thank you Dr Hardik Pitroda
