Suggest Treatment For Acne

I've had acne since I was a child. I had a total hysterectomy two years ago, age 37, and take daily HRT. I continue to have breakouts that center around my hairline and chin. I have changed facial cleansers, shampoo and conditioner thinking I had breakouts due to chemicals in those products. Thinking I should see family physician and possibly get on antibiotic treatment.Any other thoughts?

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
From your history and distribution of lesions, you seem to having adult acne which is predominantly hormone mediated.
You could benefit from oral doxycycline or azithromycin for 4-6 weeks. You could also use topical anti acne preparations like clindamycin/ nadifloxacin in the mornings and benzoyl peroxide/ adapelene combination at bedtime. Use a face wash containing 2% salicylic acid. You could also get salicylic peels done by a dermatologist.
Another common exacerbating factor for adult acne is use of cosmetics. Do not use cosmetics which have a thick or creamy consistency. Use gel based cosmetics. Avoid make up.
Have a healthy diet. Avoid fried items and diet with high sugar content. Drink lots of water and exercise moderately.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
