Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I have recently been put on zoloft and Xanax for anxiety. It seems to help with the middle of the night panic attacks but I still get a tight chest nightly when I lay down to go to sleep and it seems my heart is beating harder. This is typically when I go take the Xanax. I just want to sleep but am worried that they were wrong. I've noticed the last couple of nights I have been gassy also. I'm 30 and a female and a smoker.
I went through your details. The tight chest nightly when you lay down to go to sleep and harder heart beat is not because of Xanax, but it is due to your obsession with your body. It is hearty to know that you did manage your nocturnal anxiety attacks. You are doing well and continue according to the current psychiatrist. It might take some time for a good understanding between you and your anxiety.
In my suggestion, you should learn to manage your anxiety even without medicines. For which you may consult a psychologist. the psychologist will teach you anxiety management techniques such as psychotherapy and breathing meditation. They are useful and effective.
