Hi, This pain is unlikely to be of neurological origin (spinal cord ). Since the pain shoots when u move your arm , it is most probably muscular in origin (myalgia) which may be due to paraspinal spasm ( happens due to muscle strain ). We usually use the term spondylitis ( and not arthritis )when it is related to spine.

In spondylitis, the pain that u r experiencing now is most probably due to the secondary paraspinal spasms which is associated with it.
Pain wil subside with low back exercise + dicloran gel application + hot water fomentation+ muscle relaxants ( T.hifenac MR 1-0-1 for 1 week ).
